The History

The idea that later evolved into Ludwig as we know it today was conceived in 2003 during a get-together of old friends. United by their common ice hockey past, the soon-to-become fathers of Ludwig wanted to create an exceptional ice hockey team, built on not only enthusiasm for the dynamic sport but also friendship.

Comprising of players that for the most part started their hockey careers with junior-league team EVU, HC Ludwig was formed in the same year still. HC Ludwig started off in Finnish Division 5, but the newly-formed team’s strong performance in its first season (2003-04) resulted in its immediate ascendancy to Division 4 in the following season.

In its first season, Ludwig had played and practiced in Klaukkala and the LänsiAuto Arena in Espoo. At the start of the second season, the team decided to relocate to the Myyrmaki ice stadium – a site where most of its members had started their ice hockey careers with EVU.

The return to the players’ original roots bore fruit in 2005-06: Having spent two seasons in Division 4, Ludwig achieved another milestone in spring 2006 as the team ascended to Division 3, where it continues to play today.

The team

HC Ludwig plays dynamic, fast-paced ice hockey that is entertaining for fans and hockey enthusiasts alike to watch. The team owes its strength to a balanced mix of talent; along with technically superior forwards, Ludwig boasts rock-solid defence and skilled goaltenders, all glued seamlessly together by exceptional team spirit that stems from close friendship and passion for the sport.
